VeriFactu invoicing for physiotherapists
Issue your physiotherapy invoices straight from the sessions you have already delivered: the healthcare VAT exemption comes ticked, IRPF withholding is one click away and the app assigns the next sequential number. Every invoice reaches Spain's tax agency (AEAT) signed with your own certificate, with a chained hash and a QR code, so the 2027 deadline finds your paperwork already in order. First month free, no card needed.
Invoicing physio sessions shouldn't eat up your Friday afternoon
The last patient leaves, you wipe down the treatment table and there is still a week of invoices to tidy up: the 10-session pack one patient paid upfront, the knee rehab another patient's employer is covering, the teenager from the football club who comes in with his mum. Each case has a different payer and a number that must never skip or repeat.
When all of that comes out of the same diary where you book appointments and follow how each injury is progressing, invoices fill themselves in with the patient's details, numbering stays in order and the move to VeriFactu stops being one more thing on your list.
VeriFactu: what the Spanish Tax Agency requires, and from when
Under VeriFactu, Spain's Tax Agency requires every invoice to come out of software that records it with no room for later edits: each record carries the hash of the previous one, it is signed, and the invoice shows a QR code that can be checked on the AEAT website. If something is wrong you don't edit it — you issue a corrective invoice.
Royal Decree-law 15/2025 set the current timetable: businesses that pay Corporate Income Tax (a clinic run as a limited company, for instance) must comply from 1 January 2027, and self-employed physiotherapists and everyone else covered, from 1 July 2027.
Invoicing software for physiotherapists: from the treatment table to the AEAT
Good invoicing software for physiotherapists takes care of three things without you having to think about them: filing with VeriFactu, who pays for each session and which amounts are still outstanding.
Every issued invoice is recorded, chained and carries its QR code
You prepare the invoice as a draft and, when you issue it, the app gives it the next number in your series and today's date; the record goes to the AEAT signed with your digital certificate. Each record stores the hash of the one before, and the PDF includes the QR code your patient can scan to verify it.
- Series with your own prefix and no gaps in numbering
- Switching from another program? Carry on with your numbering
- Download as a PDF or as a signed Facturae file
Each plan's VeriFactu invoice allowance is listed on the pricing page.

In the patient's name, their company's, or a minor's guardians'
When the patient record has «Bill a Company» switched on, the invoice carries the company name and tax ID you saved — handy when a sports club or the patient's employer covers the sessions. For a patient who is a minor, you choose whether to invoice guardian 1, guardian 2 or split it: two invoices, each covering half of every session.
- Healthcare VAT exemption ticked by default
- IRPF withholding when the payer requires it
- Tax details pulled from the patient record

What you've been paid, what you're owed and which sessions still have no invoice
The «Unbilled sessions» tab gathers the completed appointments that don't have an invoice yet, and the statistics keep income apart from what is still to be collected. At the end of the quarter you download the PDF report and send it to your accountant without redoing any sums by hand.
- Cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer, partial payments included
- 5- or 10-session packs with the sessions used always in view
- Comparison with the previous month

Tax essentials for invoicing as a physiotherapist in Spain
A quick, jargon-free run through physiotherapist invoicing in Spain. This is general information: every practice has its own nuances, and your tax adviser is the one who should confirm them.
VAT depends on the purpose
Physiotherapy with a healthcare purpose (treating an injury, rehab after surgery) is usually exempt under art. 20.1.3 of Law 37/1992. A beauty massage or maintenance Pilates classes, on the other hand, normally carry VAT.
IRPF withholding
If the payer is a company, a club or a self-employed professional, withholding usually applies. Private patients paying for their own sessions don't withhold anything.
Numbers in order
Each series moves up one at a time. The number and date are set at the moment of issuing, so there are no gaps or duplicates.
Fix it with a corrective invoice
An issued invoice is never edited. If there is a mistake, you issue a corrective invoice in its own series and the sessions go back to unbilled.
Common tax territory
VeriFactu belongs to the AEAT and also covers the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. The Basque Country uses TicketBAI and Navarre has its own system.
Clinics outside Spain
With a tax address in another country, the app issues ordinary invoices, without a VeriFactu record or QR code.
All of this is part of the same software for physiotherapists you use to run your diary, treatment rooms and clinical records.
Your physiotherapy clinic, ready for VeriFactu
What invoicing in a physiotherapy practice needs, built into the diary.
Invoices from the diary
From «Unbilled sessions» you turn completed appointments into an invoice, with descriptions and amounts already filled in. No retyping what the diary already knows: the PDF is ready to hand to the patient.
Built for physiotherapy
The VAT exemption for healthcare comes ticked and the PDF cites art. 20.1.3 of Law 37/1992. Also offer a service that isn't healthcare? Untick the exemption on that invoice and apply the VAT that fits.
Made for VeriFactu
Every issue sends its VeriFactu record to the AEAT with a chained hash, signature and QR code. Your certificate (.p12 or .pfx) is stored encrypted and, before your first invoice, you can check that it connects with the tax agency.
From completed appointment to invoice in four steps
Finish the session
Once the appointment is marked as done, it moves to «Unbilled sessions» with its price.
Prepare the draft
From those sessions or from scratch; while it is a draft you can change lines, amounts and recipient.
Check the taxes
Exempt if it is healthcare, with VAT if it isn't, plus IRPF withholding where it applies.
Issue and send
It gets its number, record and QR code; download the PDF or the Facturae file and send it to the patient.
